Factors To Consider When Choosing A Doctor

1/1

When choosing a doctor, the fators to consider depend on the type of doctor.  For these purposes, there are three different types of doctors:

  • A "Primary Care Doctor" is the old-fashioned family doctor. The doctor you see for checkups and who you see initially when you have a medical problem.
  • A "Specialst" is a doctor who specializes in a particular disease or a particular part of the body.
  • A "Doctor for a Second Opinion" is likely a Specialist in a particular area that you want to approach when you already have a medical opinion but want another opinion before deciding what to do.

Factors to consider when choosing each of these types of doctors are described in the articles noted in "To Learn More."
