As a general matter, your doctor or other health professional will recommend the type of equipment to get for home use.

Think through your needs and home environment before agreeing to a piece of equipment.

You may be able to get the needed equipment for free. If not, check your health insurance policy. If that doesn't cover, see if you can convince the insurer to pay nonetheless.

If you have to pay for the equipment, consider renting it, or purchasing used equipment.

NOTE: If you use a home care agency, it may be the best source of equipment if you have health insurance. If you don't, consider getting an independent quote yourself (or ask a family member or friend to do it for you).
