If you are looking for a health insurance broker, it is advisable to speak with a broker who works with more than one insurance company rather than an agent who only works with one. Preferably speak with a broker who has experience helping people with a history of a serious health condition find health insurance.

You don't need to file a formal application to find out if the broker can help you. All you need to do is tell him or her about the history and current status of your health condition. Your broker can find out what you need to know informally, before an application is submitted. There is no guarantee that an insurer will follow through on what it says informally. However, unless the facts on the application are different from the facts presented informally, companies generally stick to what they said informally.
