The family pet can help relieve depression. Dogs also generally provide exercise as well.

You may not think about it, but oral care is important to help prevent unnecessary infections. If you take anti-depressants, a side effect of dry mouth can lead to cavities.

NOTE: Avoid self medicating with alcohol or other substances. Alcohol is a depressant. St. John's Wort, a supplement that some people use for depression, has interactions with many prescription medications. Speak with your doctor before taking St. John's Wort
