Planning
- If you haven't before, start to think about how to continue your business if you become unable to continue to work, if you die or if a natural disaster occurs.
- A planning day with your advisors may be helpful to consider business continuation and other subjects to think about triggered by your health history.
Disclosure
- Keeping a secret is stressful. If you haven’t before, decide who you want to tell about your experience and how much you want to tell. You can now talk about the experience in the past tense. Balance your business interests and the stress of continuing to keep a secret.
- Talking about the experience may be necessary if you have symptoms of chemo brain.
Benefits
- Look to see if you can increase your benefits “just in case” you have difficulty in the future. For example, first and foremost would be health insurance if you don’t already have it. Also explore purchasing Life Insurance, Disability Income Insurance, and Long Term Care Insurance.
- In addition to the resources available to an individual, you may be able to get such coverage through a business group in your area, a group of independent workers or a local authority that encourages small businesses.
