Buyers Clubs

1/1

Buyers Clubs exist for individuals with certain health conditions and/or for the purchase of particular medications.

Buyers Clubs started in the early 1980s as a method for people living with HIV/AIDS to obtain experimental drugs or drugs that were in use abroad but not approved for use in the United States. They have since expanded to cover all types of health conditions and all kinds of drugs.

Buyers Clubs can provide access to:

  • Experimental treatments
  • Drugs that are used in other countries, but not yet approved in the U.S.
  • Alternative therapies.
  • Marijuana for medical use (although this remains a very controversial issue).

To locate a buyers club in  your area: Contact your local disease specific non-profit organization, support group, doctor, or a social worker.

Caution:  Be sure that your doctor is aware of any and all medications that you are taking or are considering taking -- including drugs through a Buyer's club and over-the-counter drugs and complementary medicines!
