- There are alternatives to keeping your financial affairs going ranging from appointing a person to handle your affairs under a Power of Attorney, to transferring your assets to an entity such as corporation, to having a guardian appointed. - You can assure you get the medical care you wish by executing documents such as a Living Will. These documents are referred to as "Advance Directives." See: What Would I Want To Happen? and Advance Directives 101. It helps to talk with your family now to assure your wishes are enforced.
