Features Of A Pet Insurance Policy
Next » « Previous2/3
Generally, pet insurance policies have the following features:
- The policies cover illness, injury and accident.
- The policies have a deductible and a co-pay for each pet.
- There is a limitation on the amount of coverage per injury or illness (generally between $1,000 and $2,500) and a limitation on the amount per year.
- There may also be a limit over the lifetime of the pet.
Pet policies generally do not cover:
- Pre-existing illnesses and conditions.
- Hereditary and congenital conditions.
- Routine checkups.
- Grooming.
- Vaccinations.
- Preventable diseases of non-vaccinated animals and conditions resulting from non-vaccination.
Pet policies do not cover animals over a given age, such as 10 years old. If the policies do cover an older pet, the premiums greatly increase.
