QiGong

1/1

Qigongchi kung, or chi gung is a practice of aligning body, breath, and mind for health, meditation, and martial arts training. Qigong involves a combination of breathing and slow, fluid movements to help restore balance in the body's energy system.

Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind.

According to the National Center for Complementary And Alternative Medicine (part of the NIH): While there have been studies about Qigong, there is no definitive proof with respect to its effect on health. However, regularly practising Qigong can provide benefit with respect to many of the side effects associates with cancer and cancer treatment. For instance, Qigong can:

  • Calm the mind and emotions which can help bring a sense of peace and grounding.
  • Help improve balance and prevent falls.
  • Reduce muscle and joint pain.
  • Promote clear thinking and focus.
  • Increase flexibility.
  • Increase energy.
  • Uplift the spirits.
  • Improve breathing.

Qigong is usually taught by a master.
