PERSONAL INFORMATION: Surveys or Contests

From time-to-time we may provide you the opportunity to participate in surveys on or through our Site. If you participate, we will request certain Personal Information from you. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name, email, and/or shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code).

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Editorial/Interview Requests

A member of the SAZ editorial team may contact users of the Site via email for potential interviews and/or feature stories. PERSONAL INFORMATION: Emails to SAZ

This Privacy Policy does not protect you when you send information, ideas, or concepts to SAZ by email to the contacts listed on the "Contact Us" link on our Site. If you want to keep information, ideas, or concepts private or proprietary, do not send them in an email to SAZ.

NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

You may use our Site without registering or submitting any Personal Information. In that case, the only information we will collect from you is general, aggregated, demographic, or other non-personal information.

We use cookies on our Site to determine the number of unique visitors, to personalize your online experience, to identify returning visitors, and possibly to provide you with advertisements and messages of interest to you. SAZ does not store any Personal Information in any cookies on your computer. However, we do link the non-personal information we store in cookies to your Personal Information.

From time to time, we may allow other companies to offer products or services through our Site. Such companies may use their own cookies. This Privacy Policy covers the use and placement of cookies by SAZ only, and does not cover the use or placement of cookies by any third party.

Your browser may be set to reject all cookies. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject cookies in the "Help" section of the toolbar. If you reject our cookie(s), you will be restricted to certain areas of our Site and will be unable to access areas of the Site available to members.

We may link this automatically-collected data to your Personal Information for the purpose of determining your interests and to offer you goods or services that we believe may be of interest to you.

NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION: Tracking and Merging Information From Other Sources

If you register on our Site and provide us with Personal Information, we may link non-personal, aggregated tracking data with your online Personal Information through use of cookies, log files and other non-personal information collection.

Sponsors, partners or advertisers on the Site or in emails, special promotions, or newsletters we send you may also use their own cookies or web beacons when you click on their advertisement or link to their site or service, or even if the advertisement simply appears on a page or in an email that you are viewing.

We do not control third parties' use of cookies or web beacons, or how they manage the non-personal information they gather through them. Please review the privacy policy of other web sites you visit or link to from our site to understand how these other sites use cookies and how they use the information they collect through the use of cookies or web beacons on their own sites.

DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTY SELLERS

Through our Site, you may be given the opportunity to purchase (or to obtain more information) regarding certain content, products or services which are sold through a person or company other than us or our Affiliates (collectively "Third Party Sellers"). We will attempt (but cannot guarantee) to notify you when you are dealing with a Third Party Seller by opening a new browser or otherwise notifying you that you are leaving our Site. For example, if you see a phrase such as "powered by" or "brought to you by" followed by the name of a person or company other than SAZ, then you are likely on, or about to enter, a site hosted or operated by a person or company other than us. Third Party Sellers may request that you submit certain Personal Information to them in order to purchase their products or services or to obtain additional information from them.

By submitting the requested information, you affirmatively consent to have that information shared with the Third Party Seller. This information is used by the Third Party Seller and may be subject to a different privacy policy. We do not otherwise share or disclose your Personal Information to Third Party Sellers unless you give us permission to do so.

DISCLOSURE TO LINKED SITES

In addition to the third party sites that you may access as described above, for your convenience there are links to sites operated by companies other than SAZ ("Third Party Sites") that are not contractors who provide content or services through our Site. These links may be referenced within content, or placed beside the names or logos of sponsors. SAZ does not disclose your Personal Information to these Third Party Sites without obtaining your consent. In addition, SAZ does not endorse and is not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. If you choose to link to one of these Third party Sites, you should review the privacy policy posted on the other site to understand how that Third Party Site collects and uses your Personal Information.

OTHER DISCLOSURES

We reserve the right to transfer information to a third party in the event of a sale, liquidation, merger, or other transfer of all or substantially all of the assets of SAZ. We will endeavor, in good faith, to gain the third party's agreement and adherence to the terms of this Privacy Policy. In addition, we will notify users of any such transfer through notice on our Site and through email.

HOW SAZ HANDLES SECURITY

The security of your Personal Information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number) on our donation forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). To learn more about SSL, follow this link www.verisign.com offsite link.

We use industry standard high-grade encryption to store sensitive information in our database.  This includes (but is not limited to) passwords, social security numbers, and other sensitive information.

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

If you have any questions about security on our Site, please email us at Survivorship A to Z.

YOUR PRIVACY CHOICES

Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, we will only use Personal Information for the purposes described herein or as otherwise disclosed at the time we request such information from you. You may also change your preference and "opt-out" of receiving voluntary, non-transactional communications by changing that option in your Member Profile feature of our Site, following the directions provided in association with the communication, or by contacting privacy at SurvivorshipAtoZ dot org. You may also change your mind as to whether SAZ may share your information with third parties by changing the option in your Member Profile or sending an email to privacy at SurvivorshipAtoZ dot org.

Except as otherwise stated herein, users of our Site are notified when Personal Information is being collected by third parties on our Site.

Please know too that you may always choose not to provide information, though it might be needed to take advantage of offers or Site features. You can add or update certain information you provide to us through your Member Profile.

UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CONTACTING SURVIVORSHIP A TO Z

You can always contact us in order to:

  • Update or correct your Personal Information.

  • Change your preferences with respect to communications and other information you receive from us or third parties.

  • Delete the Personal Information maintained about you on our systems, by accessing your Member Profile or by contacting privacy at SurvivorshipAtoZ dot org.

Such updates, corrections, changes and deletions will not have an effect on other information that we maintain, or information that we have provided to third parties in accordance with this Privacy Policy prior to such update, correction, change, or deletion.

You should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to SAZ from our servers. The need to back-up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of your Personal Information may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to locate. Nevertheless, upon receiving your request, all Personal Information stored in the databases we actively use for research and daily business activities, and other readily searchable media, will be disabled.
