PERSONAL INFORMATION

You are free to visit and use our Site without providing any personal information. However, SAZ offers services on our site that require registration and/or submission of personal information. Providing SAZ with your personal information is strictly voluntary.

In the event that you make an online donation to help continue our work,  we must share your personal information with third party credit card processing companies in order to process your donations.

We use the personal information you provide to customize a Survivorship A to Z Personalized Guide. We also ask if you would like to be updated if a particular article is updated. If you desire, we will send you an email informing you of any change. From time to time we email you to inform you of other changes on our site. If you do you not wish SAZ to contact you, please do provide your e mail address. You are of course free to unsubscribe to any emails that you receive from us.

NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION: Disclosure To Outside Contractors

We may employ independent contractors, vendors and suppliers (collectively, "Outside Contractors") to provide specific services and products related to our Site, including but not limited to hosting our Site, hosting and maintaining our message boards and/or rooms; providing credit card processing and shipping fulfillment; fraud screening; and developing applications for our Site and email services. Outside Contractors may have limited access to information collected on our Site, including your Personal Information, in the course of providing products or services to us. Access to your Personal Information by these Outside Contractors is limited to the information reasonably necessary in order for the Outside Contractors to perform their limited function for us.

SAZ COLLECTS TWO KINDS OF INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

SAZ collects two kinds of information:

  • Personally identifiable information ("Personal Information") voluntarily provided by visitors through optional registration or other methods.
  • Non-personally identifiable information routinely gathered as visitors navigate through our Site.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Emails and Newsletters

By registering as a member, you agree to receive email and newsletters from SAZ. To receive emails and newsletters from SAZ you must provide your email address. SAZ also offers a "Send An Article" feature that enables you to send articles and other content to your friends. When you use SAZ's "Send An Article" feature, we do not store your friend's email address. We use your friend's email address only for the purpose of sending your friend the article or content you requested and for no other purpose, unless otherwise disclosed to you at the time you send the email.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Surveys or Contests

From time-to-time we may provide you the opportunity to participate in surveys on or through our Site. If you participate, we will request certain Personal Information from you. Participation in surveys is completely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose this information. The requested information typically includes contact information (such as name, email, and/or shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code).

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Editorial/Interview Requests

A member of the SAZ editorial team may contact users of the Site via email for potential interviews and/or feature stories. Participation in editorial or interview requests is strictly voluntary and you are free to refuse to participate. If you do choose to participate, however, you should be aware that we may use your name, likeness, statements, quotes, and other Personal Information.

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Emails to SAZ

This Privacy Policy does not protect you when you send information, ideas, or concepts to SAZ by email to the contacts listed on the "Contact Us" link on our Site. If you want to keep information, ideas, or concepts private or proprietary, do not send them in an email to SAZ.

NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION

You may use our Site without registering or submitting any Personal Information. In that case, the only information we will collect from you is general, aggregated, demographic, or other non-personal information.

NON-PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION: Cookies

DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTY SELLERS

We reserve the right to transfer information to a third party in the event of a sale, liquidation, merger, or other transfer of all or substantially all of the assets of SAZ. We will endeavor, in good faith, to gain the third party's agreement and adherence to the terms of this Privacy Policy. In addition, we will notify users of any such transfer through notice on our Site and through email.

HOW SAZ HANDLES SECURITY

We use industry standard high-grade encryption to store sensitive information in our database.  This includes (but is not limited to) passwords, social security numbers, and other sensitive information.

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Except as otherwise stated herein, users of our Site are notified when Personal Information is being collected by third parties on our Site.

Please know too that you may always choose not to provide information, though it might be needed to take advantage of offers or Site features. You can add or update certain information you provide to us through your Member Profile.

UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CONTACTING SURVIVORSHIP A TO Z

You can always contact us in order to:

  • Update or correct your Personal Information.

  • Change your preferences with respect to communications and other information you receive from us or third parties.

  • Delete the Personal Information maintained about you on our systems, by accessing your Member Profile or by contacting privacy at SurvivorshipAtoZ dot org.

Such updates, corrections, changes and deletions will not have an effect on other information that we maintain, or information that we have provided to third parties in accordance with this Privacy Policy prior to such update, correction, change, or deletion.

You should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to SAZ from our servers. The need to back-up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of your Personal Information may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to locate. Nevertheless, upon receiving your request, all Personal Information stored in the databases we actively use for research and daily business activities, and other readily searchable media, will be disabled.
