When You Will Receive Social Security Disability Income Payments
1/1
The date of social security payments differs for people who START receiving benefits after June 1, 2000, and those who were already receiving benefits on that date.
Everyone who starts receiving benefits June 1, 2000 or later, whether under SSDI because of disability or under SSRI because of retirement, who does not also receive SSI, will receive a check each month on a day determined by your (the recipient's) birthday:
If your birthday is between: Your check will arrive on the:
1st and 10th of the month 2nd Wednesday of each month
11th and 20th of the month 3rd Wednesday of each month
21st and 31st of the month 4th Wednesday of each month
Everyone who receives both SSI and SSDI
Will receive their SSDI payments on the third day of the month regardless of their birthday. See below for the SSI payment.
Everyone who receives SSDI or SSR benefits as a spouse or child
Will receive their check based on the birth date of the worker whose benefits they are attached to, not their own birth date. For example, if your divorced husband's birthday is the 5th of February and yours in on May 22nd, if you collect benefits as the ex-spouse of your husband, your check will come on the 2nd Wednesday of each month -- determined by his birthday.
Everyone who was receiving SSDI or SSR benefits as of June 1, 2000
Will continue to receive their monthly payment from Social Security at the same time as in the past.
